Four swap kidneys to save lives

Two couples aged in their late 40s have successfully exchanged kidneys this week in a hospital in Changsha, Hunan Province, the first such exchange between four people from two families reported in China.

Wu Zheng gave one of his compatible kidneys to Li Chuanjun, who was suffering from kidney failure. Li's wife Zhong meanwhile donated one of her healthy and compatible kidneys to Wu's wife, who was also suffering from kidney failure.

Doctors said the two patients with kidney failure are recovering well at this stage.
