The year of 2007 is set as the Year of Spain in China and it will help
Chinese public to learn more about a true and modern Spain, said a Spanish
senior official here Tuesday.
Pablo Bravo, commissioner specially assigned by the Spanish government to the
event, made the remarks at the ongoing third meeting of the China-Spain forum.
He said during the Year of Spain, Chinese people will appreciate Spain's
modern art, design, food, fashion and sports. They can also take the opportunity
to enjoy an exhibition from Spain's Prado Museum, which will include painting by
Picasso.
A Chinese art festival will also be held in Spain. Bravo said the Spanish
government and non-governmental sectors will provide support.
Chinese Assistant Cultural Minister Ding Wei said the two countries are
keeping in contact on the specific arrangements for the year of activities.
The agreement to host the Year of Spain in China and the Chinese art festival
in Spain was reached during Chinese President Hu Jintao's state visit to Spain
