"This (China) is a place where Schneider Electric can bring a lot of power solutions on power consumption and energy saving," says Jean-Pascal Tricoire.
"We must make sure we invest enough in energy powers in China."
In the first half of 2006, the company boasted global growth of 11.3 percent and an increase in profit of close to 2 percent.
Moreover, Schneider Electric recorded strong sales growth in the "Asia Pacific (including China), close to 20 percent, and there is still more margin in China."
"I would say by 2010 China will be our second biggest country of operation" from its current position of No 3, he says. France is No 1.
"What we are doing today in Schneider Electric is building a full solution with all the components, including power, automation, temperature control all for increased productivity and comfort," he says.
