Machan set a goal for BearingPoint: to make it the most respected consulting
firm in China in the next two to three years. Now, after years of losing
money, the firm is finally turning a profit in China. "We planned to hit the
break-even point this year (2005), and we actually hit that much earlier than we
had planned, and are more profitable than we planned," Machan says. The
company's revenue, after flat growth in 2005, is growing at 15 to 20
percent. The performance comes from a major restructuring and transformation
in May 2005. "BearingPoint is now focusing on key clients, on highly
differentiated solutions and driving a profitable business in the long-haul," he
says
