In early September, less than five months after he took his post, Ron Machan set a goal for BearingPoint: to make it the most respected consulting firm in China in the next two to three years.
Now, after years of losing money, the firm is finally turning a profit in China. "We planned to hit the break-even point this year (2005), and we actually hit that much earlier than we had planned, and are more profitable than we planned," Machan says.
The company's revenue, after flat growth in 2005, is growing at 15 to 20 percent.
The performance comes from a major restructuring and transformation in May 2005. "BearingPoint is now focusing on key clients, on highly differentiated solutions and driving a profitable business in the long-haul," he says
