The Xinjiang Tefeng Pharmaceutical Co held a ceremony in the high-tech development zone of Urumqi on Nov 8, 2011, celebrating the founding of the 300 million yuan ($ 47.44 million) biomedical park.
The member of Standing Committee of the Urumqi Municipal Party Committee, Yuan Baoxin, the deputy director of the Autonomous Region Food and Drug Administration, Li Weidong, and the member of Standing Committee of the high-tech zone Party Committee, Li Chaoyun were in attendance.
Xinjiang Tefeng Pharmaceutical, locating in the high-tech zone, will construct a modern biomedical park covering an area of 163 mu (10,866.67 square meters). The project is comprised of a premarin production base, a Xinjiang local biological drugs extracting base, a post-doctoral workstation and pharmaceutical technological center, a comprehensive preparations production base and a health food production base.
The project will be carried out in three phases. The first phase will have an investment of 88.6 million yuan, and will be completed and put into operation in Oct 2012. The second phase will have an investment of 100 million yuan and the third phase, 150 million yuan.
The project will give take advantage of the agriculture and animal husbandry industry in Xinjiang, stimulate the economy of the pastoral area, help farmers reduce deficient and promote the industrialization of Xinjiang.
Li Chaoyun said at the ceremony that the project is a key pharmaceutical project introduced this year. The high-tech zone has put effort into developing the pharmaceutical industry in Xinjiang and has set it as a pillar business in the region. It has attracted over 80 percent of the Xinjiang pharmaceutical plants into the zone and involved a group of leading enterprises with innovative capacities and competitiveness, such as the Xinjiang Tefeng Pharmaceutical.
The high-tech zone will rely on universities, research institutes and technological research centers to improve the capacity of bio-medicines and national drug developments. It will construct national engineering (technology) research centers, national key (engineering) labs and national high-tech industrialization bases to occupy primary positions in the industry.
The chairman of Xinjiang Tefeng Pharmaceutical, Tao Liang, said that the bio-medical park is built on the company’s existing systems but was redesigned to meet international standards. It is dedicated to continually improving the production quality control system and attracting more talents to participate in the development and industrialization of Xinjiang biomedical resources. It will strive to pass international authentication of the production bases and push the premarin products and Xinjiang biomedical resources to European and American markets.
Xinjiang Tefeng Pharmaceutical Co, a joint-stock company restructured from Xinjiang Tefeng Pharmaceutical Company is a top 10 pharmaceutical enterprise in the autonomous region. The company is mainly engaged in developing and producing medicines and health care products. Its well-known product, Goykid oral solution, was recommended as a calcium supplement by the China Maternal and Child Health Association in 1996.
