BEIJING - China's top quality watchdog said Thursday US automaker Chrysler will recall 464 JEEP Wrangler vehicles in the Chinese mainland over problems with bolts that could cause noise and even affect steering while the vehicle is running.

Chrysler's China company will conduct the recall, which is set to begin on April 8. The vehicles involved were produced between July 7, 2010 and Sept 10, 2010, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said in a statement on its website.

The Chrysler China Sales Company will conduct free checks on the recalled cars, fix the bolts, and make sure the cars are safe to drive again, the statement said.

Meanwhile, the vehicles in inventory produced during the period would undergo checks and repairs before being sold on the market, the statement said.
