China reiterates yuan stance for five-year plan

China will keep the yuan basically stable while also strengthening its flexibility over the coming five years, a central bank official said in a statement on Thursday, reiterating a long-standing description of exchange rate policy.

In a statement about the central bank's plans for China's five-year plan running from 2011 to 2015, Zhang Xiaohui, head of the monetary policy department, said that yuan reform could help curb inflation and asset bubbles.
