China's 2011 power consumption to rise 9%

China's power consumption is expected to grow about 9 percent in 2011 to 4.5 trillion kwh, a slower pace of growth from the year before, Reuters reported citing the National Energy Administration on Friday.

Power consumption increased 14.6 percent from a year earlier to 4.19 trillion kilowatt hours in 2010.

The NEA also said 2011 natural gas consumption would rise about 20 percent to 130 billion cubic meters, while natural gas output would increase 16 percent to 110 billion cubic meters, suggesting the country would import some 20 billion cubic meters of natural gas during the year.
