Aqua Logistics Ltd, India's full-scope multinational service provider, opened its subsidiary, Aqua Logistics China Ltd (Aqua China), in Beijing on Monday.
Aqua China aims to provide full-scope third-party logistics service with a 360-degree portfolio and an integrated solution approach.
On the inauguration of the subsidiary, M. S. Sayad, vice chairman of Aqua Logistics Ltd, was very optimistic about the prospects of Aqua China and shared with China Daily his outlook on the industry.
"China is a very important hub for export and import activities related to emerging economies like India, Indonesia and Vietnam. There is huge potential to explore here as China is opening its logistics market further and creating a good investment environment," said Sayad.
He said it is essential for his company, which was established in 1999 and headquartered in Mumbai, to have a full-scale set-up in the area to provide end-to-end logistics solution to customers.
He believed that in spite of strong competition, the company will win in China by bringing its core knowledge-based capabilities into full play. Aqua China will not only provide supply chain consulting, logistics execution and project logistics but also deliver logistics solutions to clients by aligning their strategic and operational perspectives.
Sayad also pointed out that with the successful acquisition of three companies in Hong Kong, a vital step toward creating a strong foothold in Southeast Asia, Aqua Logistics also plans for further acquisitions in neighboring countries. Its strong presence in the Indian subcontinent and Middle East will help Aqua China to expand its business in the Far East region as well as globally.
"One of the main challenges we face might be making Aqua Logistics better known in China," said Sayad, adding: "We hope to contribute to this industry in China by providing universal quality service and committing to applying and sharing our knowledge expertise and experience."
Aqua China will be headed by Karl Liu, who will be the managing director, and guided by the board of directors of Aqua Logistics Ltd. It will also be supported by Alfred Lam, CEO of Aqua Hong Kong and Prasan Yedekar, marketing director of Aqua Logistics Group.
