China's aluminum output may be 16 million metric tons this year, Bloomberg reported on Tuesday, citing Zhang Fengkui, an official at the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Annual demand will grow to about 18 million tons in 2011-2015, Zhang said.

Output of aluminum in 2009 was 13 million tons, according to the statistics bureau.
