China Auto Rental has more than 300 outlets across the country's 41 cities. It has 6,000 vehicles in its fleet, and serves 500,000 personal customers and more than 400 enterprises.

The size of China's auto rental market will reach 38 billion yuan by 2014, with 400,000 vehicles for rent by that time, according to Zhu Linan, vice president of Legend.

Legend is involved in IT, investment and property industries, and this is the first time it's investing in the service industry.

Legend aims to build itself into a listed investment holding group in five to seven years, according to Zhu.

The company said earlier this week they would invest 18 billion yuan to build a chemical facility in Shandong province.
