China's stocks close higher Monday, led by developers

BEIJING - Chinese equities closed higher on Monday with the key Shanghai stock index up slightly, boosted by strong performance of property stocks.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index climbed 25.11 points, or 0.94 percent to closed at 2,688.32. The Shenzhen Component Index rose 159.36 points, or 1.38 percent, to end at 11,690.35.

Combined turnover stood at 265.3 billion yuan ($39.01 billion), up from 257.19 billion yuan on the previous trading day.

Gainers outnumbered losers by 744 to 117 in Shanghai and by 891 to 141 in Shenzhen.
