The maximum fuel-surcharge for short-haul flights will fall one percent to HK$97 while that for long-haul flights will drop 5 percent to HK$481. The applicable surcharge levels are based on the ticket issue date.

The surcharges allow airlines to partially recover the rise in operational costs due to aviation fuel price fluctuations. The department considers and approves airlines' fuel surcharge applications in accordance with bilateral Air Services Agreements.
