Vice-premier urges more competitive textile firms

BEIJING - Chinese textile companies should step up product innovation and industry restructuring to become more competitive, Vice Premier Zhang Dejiang said Tuesday.

Zhang made the remarks at the opening of the China International Trade Fair for Apparel Fabrics and Accessories in Beijing.

He said Chinese textile firms must endeavor to improve product quality, open new markets and create more jobs.

"The textile industry should speed up elimination of outdated production capacity and create more famous brands," he said.

More than 1,120 textile firms from 17 countries and regions are participating in the three-day fair.
