China to float 6b yuan renminbi bonds in HK

China's central government is to issue 6 billion yuan ($878.5 million) worth of renminbi treasury bonds in Hong Kong on September 28.

The announcement was made Tuesday by China's Ministry of Finance (MOF)and the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The MOF said in the announcement on its website that the move would further enhance financial cooperation between the mainland and Hong Kong, strengthen Hong Kong's position as an international financial center, and promote renminbi business on international markets.
