A scaffold collapsed at 9:50 pm Monday when workers were building a warehouse in Jinjiang Cement Co Ltd in Tongliang County, burying 14 of the 24 workers at the site. The remaining 10 workers escaped.

Initial investigations show the scaffold was wrongly built which led to the collapse, said Tang Chuan, head of the Tongliang County government.

The injured are being treated at local hospitals. Their injuries are not life-threatening, Tang said.

Jinjiang Cement Co Ltd is a private business capable of producing three million tons of cement annually.
