NZ says free trade deal with China benefits education
(Xinhua)
Updated: 2009-07-18 13:58 New Zealand's position as the first Western country to sign a free trade agreement with China is about to pay off, said a New Zealand education expert on Saturday. Chinese students will come to New Zealand as part of 10 government-funded scholarships allowing people from both nations to swap countries for study. Robert Stevens from Education New Zealand said the exchange of doctoral scholarships is a very positive development, New stalk ZB radio reported. He added that it's an important scheme which is critical for international education. Stevens said Chinese students will return to China with a globally recognized PhD. He hoped their experiences in New Zealand will inspire other Chinese people to travel here. (For more biz stories, please visit Industries)
