The average room at the new Bestay Hotel Express sells for 120 yuan, less than half the price charged by most chain budget hotels in China, such as Jin Jiang Inn, Motel 168 and Home Inn.

Despite the relatively small size, Bestay rooms feature amenities such as free Internet access, a TV, air-conditioner and well-equipped bathroom. Guests can also choose from rooms with single bed, bunk bed or Japanese-style tatami bed.

Xu Xianggen, Jin Jiang Inn's Bestay brand manager, said the new hotels feature a modern and resource-efficient concept as well as friendly and efficient service.

At present, only 10 hotels have signed up to operate under the Bestay brand. Bestay is now available in Beijing, Ningbo and Wuhan, but soon Bestay hotels will be unveiled in Xi'an, Nanchang, Nanjing and Shanghai.

Hu Ping, a professor from the tourism department of East China Normal University, said the elegant design of such compact Bestay rooms signals the return of the sensible budget hotel to the marketplace.

Hu believes that families, young people and students especially will find the design very attractive.

Bestay also started its booking hotline: 4008208999.

Jin Jiang Inn, under the listed Jin Jiang International, boasts 480 hotels across China.
