On Feb 16, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) finalized anti-dumping duty rates at between 1.7 percent and 101 percent and countervailing duty rates at between 2.59 yuan and 15.84 yuan per kilogram for Chinese aluminum extrusion.

The CNIA said in a complaint letter to the Canadian ambassador that the determination is neither fair nor reasonable. It said Canada has ignored its WTO obligations as well as basic economic principles.

The association said in the Chinese aluminum extrusion industry, prices are determined by the market instead of being determined by the Chinese government as the CBSA claimed. It added that the CBSA provided a limited time for businesses and the Chinese government to respond to its questionnaires.

The association has asked the Ministry of Commerce to seek a dispute settlement at the World Trade Organization.
