China and Belarus have reached a deal on a 3-year currency swap worth 20 billion yuan (8 trillion Belarus ruble), said the People's Bank of China, the central bank, on Wednesday.

The deal could be extended upon agreement of both sides, said a statement on the central bank's website. The move aims to promote bilateral trade and economic growth of both countries, it said.

China has reached currency swap deals with South Korea and Malaysia, and the Chinese mainland has inked such a deal with Hong Kong. The total amount of those swaps is 460 billion yuan ($67.32 billion).
