With e-commerce gradually booming in the country, which has long been one of the world's biggest suppliers of fake goods, even the Internet is not safe from cheap counterfeit products that are undermining the original brands.

Right from DVDs to mobile phones to MP 4 players to cosmetics, traders of all sorts of fake goods have found a rather safe haven in the web, and a never-ending list of loyal customers.

"Products that I sell in my shop are of top quality, still affordable for most shoppers. I have many more than 60 loyal customers who regularly purchase fake but good quality goods from me," an online seller surnamed Chen told China Daily.

The Guangdong-based trader has two shops online and specializes in luxury bags, belts and shoes, such as LV, Gucci, Prada, fake nonetheless.

With his online shops running in their fourth year of business, Chen is now a "diamond level" seller.

"Generally, we begin to receive customers' orders when new products appear in the market. It takes one or two months for customers to get the fake ones of course, at a very favorable price," Chen said unapologetically.

Chen said the fake products cost just about 10 percent lesser than the originals.

Even though China has attempted to clamp down on the trade, it has met little success.

It is as easy to find fake goods on the Internet as entering any brand's name in the online shopping websites' search bars.

Shopping websites, such as eBay and Taobao, are offering thousands of cheap fake goods, although they have been purporting that fake products cannot be accessed through their websites.

Taobao.com said in an earlier statement that they have been keeping regular checks on fake products listed on their site. They have even asked customers to report the fakes.

The website said customers can apply for returning products within 14 days of receiving them if they find they are fake.
