Insurer launches 'Hearts in Action' campaign

The AXA Group, a French global insurance group headquartered in Paris, launched the "AXA Hearts in Action" activity worldwide last Friday.

The group's operational bodies in China, including AXA-Minmetals Assurance Co Ltd, a joint-ventured insurer with China Minmetals Corporation, AXA Assistance (Beijing) Co Ltd and Winterthur Insurance (Asia) Ltd, organized related activities between June 20 and 21.

These activities, with the theme of caring for children, brought happiness to quake orphans, children in poverty and mentally handicapped children in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

The group has always been dedicated to social responsibilities in China. The group and its staff donated over 2.6 million yuan ($378,457) to disaster areas hit during the May 12 earthquake.

The group sponsored several financial education programs in China, such as establishing a fund to set up insurance research centers in several well-known universities in China, and cooperating with the China Foundation for Development of Financial Education to finance undergraduates in poverty. It also donated money to help build hope primary schools all across the country.
