Huawei becomes No 1 telecom solutions supplier in Bangladesh

Chinese Huawei Technologies Company Ltd has become the largest telecom solutions supplier in Bangladesh after signing a contract with Grameenphone, the leading mobile operator in the country on Tuesday.

The contract, with the purpose to expand GSM network of Grameenphone, is expected to help the mobile operator meet growing capacity requirement.

Huawei's solutions will also improve the quality of service experienced by Grameenphone customers and thereby enhance the operator's competitive advantage in the market.

"Huawei's advanced technology and value-added services will help us deliver an excellent mobile experience to our customers," Grameenphone CEO Anders Jensen said at the signing ceremony on Tuesday.

Huawei Senior Vice President of Kevin Tao said, "With our customized solutions and professional service capabilities, we are dedicated to helping Grameenphone strengthen its leadership and competitiveness in Bangladesh."

Huawei entered into Bangladeshi market in 1998. With 10 years development, Huawei has got over 40 percent market share in the country.

Grameenphone is a joint venture between Bangladesh's Grameen Telecom and Norway's Telenor. It has more than 18 million subscribers in Bangladesh.
