China Netcom is planning to remove the monthly service fee for fixed-line telephone users in order to attract more subscribers, the Beijing Morning Post reported, citing Zuo Xunsheng, chief executive of China Netcom.

China Netcom currently charges about 20 yuan (US$2.77) per month in service fees.

Zuo said that China Netcom will develop comprehensive service packages which will include broadband to attract more Internet users.
