Updated: 2008-01-11 17:13 Digital camera sales in China are expected to reach 8.37 million units in 2007, representing an increase of 29.9 percent from a year earlier, according to Chinese research firm CCID Consulting.
Sales of digital cameras in China in the first nine months of 2007 reached 5.92 million sets, CCID said in a statement. It added that the fast-growing digital SLR (single-lens reflex) camera market became a new industry growth point last year, with the two major vendors - Canon and Nikon - continuing to dominate the market. Meanwhile, other camera makers, including Sony, Olympus, Samsung, Panasonic, Sigma and Pentax stepped up their efforts to develop the digital SLR camera market, CCID said. Total sales of digital SLR cameras are expected to have risen 47.6 percent in 2007 to 310,000 sets. CCID added that China's digital camera market will continue to grow quickly this year, with forecast sales of 10.25 million units.
