The world auto giant Daimler Chrysler has announced that it would recall 532 Grand Voyager LX cars whose windshield wipers have problems from the Chinese market as from May.

A source with the State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine confirmed on Sunday that Chrysler had submitted a report to the Administration a few days earlier, saying that it would call back all the 532 Grand Voyager LX cars manufactured between 2005 and 2006 and sold on the Chinese market.

Chrysler said electric engine's axes of the windshield wipers equipped on these cars may break or stop working, affecting the wiping function of the wipers in rainy or snowy days. This may affect driver's view and cause accidents.

Thus far, it said, it has not received any report of car accidents or casualties caused by the problem and the company will provide free inspections and necessary replacing of wipers for all the cars of this style in China.

This action is part of Chrysler's recall of cars worldwide. Due to this defect, Chrysler has called back 268,800 cars from world market.
