China shows potential for foreign VC

Experts forecast good prospects for foreign venture capital at the 2006 China Venture Capital Forum on April 7 in Shenzhen, South China's Guangdong Province.

China is an important target market for venture capital and has  opportunities for high returns in telecom, advanced technology and medicine sectors.

According to a Sino-Israel fund manager, joint ventures in China should  be aware of and manage cultural differences to develop successful businesses in varied environments. A Qualcomm China manager also said foreign enterprises should be staffed by local employees.

Foreign venture capital companies can enter the Chinese market through fund investment, direct investment and cooperation with domestic companies.

According to Jin Haitao, chairman of Shenzhen Capital Group Co Ltd, cooperation is better than competition and domestic and foreign venture capital companies should share information, resources and training  to ensure maximum profits.
