SMEs play key role
(chinadaily.com.cn)
Updated: 2006-04-10 08:57 Chen Dongzheng, chairman of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange, hailed the establishment of the self-innovation strategy and said small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) play a key role in China's economic growth at the 8th China Venture Capital Forum that opened in Shenzhen, a boomtown in South China’s Guangdong Province, on April 7-8, 2006. He said the strategy, together with reliable policy support, will greatly promote the development of venture capital (VC) in China. To boost the VC industry, it’s necessary to actively develop SMEs, which, he said, is a must-go way to realize a relatively well-off society. To support his view, Chen listed three reasons. He said the growth of SMEs is an indispensable force to propel China’s economy, greatly promoting SMEs is the most effective way to solve current outstanding problems in the country, and the growth of SMEs correlates with social growth and is an important way to build a harmonious society.
