Paper hails conclusion to NPC's annual session (Xinhua) Updated: 2006-03-15 09:09
China's leading newspaper, the People's Daily, carries an editorial on
Wednesday, hailing the successful conclusion of the annual session of the
National People's Congress (NPC), China's Parliament.
Approximately 3,000 deputies at the annual session heard and endorsed Premier
Wen Jiabao's government work report and the country's newest five-year
development blueprint on Tuesday.
Describing the session as "a democratic, truth-seeking, pragmatic, united and
inspiring one," the editorial says that the session will greatly promote the
implementation of the scientific concept of development, fast and wholesome
social and economic development, the country's reforms and opening to the
outside world, as well as the modernization drive in China.
This year marks the beginning of the implementation of China's 11th Five-Year
Program (2006-2010). The country should make tangible efforts in adopting a
scientific approach to command economic and social development, the editorial
says.
The 10-day Fourth Session of the 10th National People's Congress (NPC) ran
from March 5 to March 14. (For more biz stories, please visit Industry Updates) |
