Sublime ballet

The National Ballet of China (NBC) will premiere three classic pieces in the country. Beethoven's Symphony No. 7, written between 1812 and 1813, is often referred to as a "dance symphony" Choreographer Toer von Schayk feels it expresses the composer's ecstatic longing to reach the sublime future he was convinced lay ahead at the end of the dark period of the Napoleonic war. Choreographed by William Forsythe, In the Middle, Somewhat Elevated follows the traditional formula. The main theme, danced by the ballerina, increases progressively in relation with the number of dancers, until the result of the group becomes much more complex variations and pas de deux. Kazimir's Colors is proved to be an exercise in angularities and gymnastic coupling. 20-280 yuan. 7pm, Nov 9-11. Peking University Concert Hall, Peking University, Haidian District. 6275-2279, 6275-9637. 北大百年讲堂,北京大学内
