PetroChina tops Asian competitiveness ranking

BEIJING- PetroChina Co Ltd ranks first in a competitiveness report of listed Asian enterprises published on Wednesday by the Research Institute of Boao Forum for Asia.

PetroChina Co Ltd tops the ranks in the Asian Competitiveness: Annual Report 2011, with relatively high indexes on basic competency capacity, development capacity, profitability and anti-risk capacity.

Toyota Motor Corp ranks second on the list, followed by China Petroleum & Chemical Corp.

The report covers 12,779 listed enterprises listed on 39 stock exchanges in the region.

The research institute also gives the ranking of the overall competitiveness of Asian economies based on primary indexes on commercial and administrative efficiency, infrastructure, macroeconomic strength, social development, human capital and innovation.

The Republic of Korea leads, followed by China's Taiwan and Japan. China's mainland ranks 11th on the list.

The research institute aims to create a worldwide influential list of Asian economies and enterprises.
