China stock index futures close down - June 15

BEIJING - China's stock index futures closed down on Wednesday with the contract for June, the most actively traded, down 25.6 points, or 0.86 percent, from the previous day to 2,960.8.

The July contract closed at 2,963.6 points, down 30.4 points, or 1.02 percent. The September contract closed down 26.8 points, or 0.89 percent lower at 2,994 points and the December contract was down 32.6 points, or 1.06 percent to 3,038.

The stock-index contracts, agreements to buy or sell the Hushen 300 Index at a preset value on an agreed date are designed to allow investors to bet on and profit from both gains and declines in the market.

The index futures was launched at the China Financial Futures Exchange (CFFEX) and started trading from April 16, 2010. The CFFEX has set the base value for all the four contracts at 3,399 points.
