The group, headed by CCDI deputy secretary He Yong, consists of heads or vice heads of ten government departments in charge of the overall economic planning, science and technology, industry and information, supervision, finance, land and resources, environmental protection, housing, and water resources. The group's office will be in the Ministry of Supervision.

Addressing a national audio-video conference on Friday, He Guoqiang, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, stressed the significance of conducting such supervision and inspection as they are important measures to ensure implementation of major government policies for China's development in the next five years and to prevent and eradicate corruption from its source.

The supervision will focus on the implementation of major measures set down in the blueprint for China's development in the next five years, moves to tame inflation, and policies to accelerate the development of the nation's water conservancy and promote the sustainable use of water resources, he said.

Further, policies to fund public housing, major technology and science projects, measures to save energy and protect environment, as well as conservation of arable land also top the agenda, according to He.
