Chinese shares open lower Tuesday

BEIJING -- Chinese shares opened slightly lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.09 percent at 2,846.45.

The Shenzhen Component Index inched down 0.16 percent at the opening to 12,031.84.
