Chinese shares close down Monday

BEIJING -- Chinese shares fell Monday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.77 percent, or 21.96 points, to 2,849.07.

The Shenzhen Component Index lost 0.87 percent, or 105.36 points, to 12,051.24.
