Chinese shares close down - May 12

BEIJING -- Chinese shares fell Thursday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.36 percent, or 39.34 points, to 2,844.08.

The Shenzhen Component Index lost 1.07 percent, or 130.41 points, to 12,072.21.
