Chinese shares close 0.37% higher at midday - May 9

BEIJING -- Chinese shares closed higher in the morning session on Monday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 10.60 points, or 0.37 percent, to 2,874.48.

The Shenzhen Component Index rose 86.87 points, or 0.72 percent, to 12,154.47.
