Jiangyou: Private company to build a village road

Jiangyou Shunhui Investment (Group) Ltd Co, a private property developer and trade company, has donated 500,000 yuan ($77,000) for a one-kilometer road to be built in a remote village called Shengma.

More than 100 villagers from about 30 families would benefit from the construction of the road during their rebuilding after the Sichuan earthquake. Without a road to the village, construction materials cannot reach the villagers' home building sites by vehicle.

The inconvenience has also weakened the agriculture in the village; few buyers will travel to the village and farmers have been forced to lower the price of their products.

"The road will be 3-meters wide that farm vehicles can pass through," said Zhou Hui, president of Shunhui Investment. "We hope the road can bring happiness to the people there," he added.

Jiangyou city is located at the northwest of Sichuan. It is a well-know for culture tourism as it is the birthplace of the great ancient poet, Li Bai.
