China, Brazil clinch over 20 cooperation deals

BEIJING - China and Brazil clinched over 20 cooperation agreements on Tuesday during Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff's visit to China.

The cooperation documents cover various areas, including the hi-tech, energy, aviation, education and agriculture sectors.

Chinese President Hu Jintao held talks with Rousseff Tuesday afternoon. Following the talks, they inked a Sino-Brazilian joint communique and witnessed a signing ceremony for eight cooperation documents.

Among the documents, China and Brazil struck a raft of Memorandum of Understanding on some issues, including the establishment of a Sino-Brazilian research and innovation center on nano technology and plans to carry out cooperation in bamboo technology, water resources, sports, agriculture and education.

In terms of the cooperation between the two countries' organizations and companies, China and Brazil also announced 13 relevant cooperation deals at the ceremony in the fields of media, energy, education and aviation, among others.

According to the website of Brazil's aircraft producer Embraer, Embraer and China's Hebei Airlines agreed on an order for ten Embraer 190 planes, and the first delivery of these jets is scheduled for September of 2012.

Embraer also signed a tripartite agreement with China Development Bank (CDB) Leasing and China Southern Airlines to confirm the purchase of ten Embraer 190 planes.
