China to let yuan be traded against more currencies

BEIJING - China will allow the yuan to be traded against a wider variety of currencies in the onshore foreign exchange market, Reuters reported Friday, citing a central bank report.

The yuan is currently tradable against seven currencies, including the US dollar, the yen and the Russian rouble.

In a report reviewing financial market developments in 2010, the People's Bank of China also said that it would further open up the domestic bond market to foreign investors this year, the report said.
