China Oilfield Services sets deal with Norway's Statoil

SHANGHAI - The State-owned China Oilfield Services has announced a contract with Norway's Statoil for drilling in the North Sea, the Associated Press reported Monday.

The deal, signed on Dec 9, calls for one of its drilling rigs to operate in the North Sea for up to five years, according to China Oilfield Services' website, the report said.

The newly commissioned rig is to begin drilling next summer, it reported.
