China's stock markets celebrate the 20th anniversary on Wed

BEIJING - China's stock market celebrated its 20th anniversary as the nation's two stock exchanges in Shanghai and Shenzhen opened for trading Wednesday.

Over the last two decades, China's stock market has seen fast growth in the number of listed companies, total market value and financing volume.

The following are some figures about China's stock market as of Nov 30. The data comes from the Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) and the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE).

Total market value of China's stock market reached 26.4 trillion yuan ($4 trillion). The market value of the SSE reached 17.9 trillion yuan, while that of the smaller Shenzhen-based SZSE hit 8.6 trillion yuan.

The total number of listed companies in China reached 2,026, with 890 in Shanghai and 1,136 in Shenzhen.

The number of listed stocks at the two exchanges reached 2,112.

Meanwhile, the number of stock accounts in China reached over 150 million as of Nov 26, according to data from the China Securities Depository and Clearing Co Ltd, a joint venture of SSE and SZSE.
