BMW recalls 6,000 SUVs in China

BMW will recall 6,009 X5 3.0 sports utility vehicles in China because of a fuel pump flaw, the Beijing Times reported Wednesday.

The flaw in the fuel pump's priming mechanism might cause a sudden engine shutoff and malfunctions on power-assisted steering and brake assist systems, the report said.

The recall involves an imported SUV model made between November 2007 and August 2008, the report said, adding that the recall will begin Nov 15.
