China to boost cooperation in tourism with Tunisia: official

TUNIS,Tunisia - China will boost cooperation with Tunisia in tourism sector and will exert all efforts to promote Tunisia as a tourist destination for its visitors, a top Chinese tourist official said in Tunis, capital of Tunisia, on Thursday.

The Chinese government supports any effort aimed at promoting Tunisia as a tourist destination for Chinese visitors, Deputy Director of the China National Tourism Administration Wang Zhifa was quoted by Tunisian TAP news agency as saying.

Wang, heading a Chinese delegation, is now paying a visit to Tunisia. The visit aims to boost the two countries' cooperation in the tourism sector.

According to a survey, the Mediterranean basin is fast becoming a preferred destination of Chinese tourists, added Wang.

Some 3,500 Chinese tourists visited Tunisia in 2009, it is expected that more Chinese tourists will visit the country in near future.
