China is making efforts to avoid a currency war, but issues on any specific currency should not be treated as an agenda at G20 meetings, Reuters reported on on Oct 13, citing a Chinese G20 negotiator.

Cui Tiankai, a vice foreign minister who is China's key G20 negotiator, said that Beijing was "trying to avoid" a currency war, in response to a question from journalists, but did not elaborate.

He also said China had no specific target level for the yuan, and that the yuan's recent appreciation had nothing to do with pressures from the United States or any other country.
