Seven provincial regions' H1 energy intensity up

Energy intensity, calculated by units of energy consumed in producing a unit of GDP, rose in the first half of this year in seven provinces and autonomous regions in China, China Securities Journal reported Friday, citing data from the National Bureau of Statistics.

They were Liaoning, Jiangsu, Shannxi, Qinghai provinces and Guangxi Zhuang, Ningxia Hui and Xinjiang Uygur autonomous regions. Energy intensity in Qinghai rose the most, at 7.53 percent year-on-year.

Energy intensity went down in 23 provincial regions in the first six months, with that in Jilin province dropping the most, at 5.55 percent year-on-year.

The figure for Tibet is not available yet.

Energy intensity in the whole country rose 0.09 percent in the first half of this year, the report said.

During the same period, energy intensity in China's coal, steel, construction material, chemical and textile industries went down 2.69 percent, 1.64 percent, 7.61 percent, 4.28 percent and 2.42 percent year-on-year, respectively.

However, energy intensity in China's petro-chemical, non-ferrous metal and power generation industries went up 11.35 percent, 8.11 percent and 4.19 percent year-on-year, respectively.
