China's exports and trade volume for July hit record highs with exports surging 38.1 percent year-on-year to $145.5 billion and trade volume hitting $262.3 billion, a 30.8 percent increase over the last year, the General Administration of Customs (GAC) said Tuesday.

Imports in July grew 22.7 percent year-on-year to $116.8 billion, the GAC said.

China's foreign trade in the first seven months this year reached $1.6 trillion, up 40.9 percent year-on-year, among it, exports accounted for $850.5 billion with an 35.6 percent increase and imports, which grew 47.2 percent over the last year, accounted for $766.6 billion.

The trade surplus in the first seven months this year reached $83.9 billion, down 21.2 percent year-on-year.
