CISA appoints new deputy secretary-general

The China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) announced deputy secretary-general Qi Xiangdong's retirement on Friday and said Li Xinchuang, president of China Metallurgical Industry Planning & Research Institute, will take the post, financial news website Caing.com reported Friday.

Li will take charge of the association's marketing and cooperate with the iron ore talks, the report said.

Li, 46, was promoted as the vice president of China Metallurgical Industry Planning & Research Institute and the chief engineer in 2002 and appointed as the president of the institute in 2009.

He was regarded as an open-minded specialist in the iron and steel industry. He speaks fluent English, is familiar with the overseas markets and has rich experience in market management.
