Foxconn plans $5b Chengdu production base

Foxconn Technology Co plans to hire 100,000 people for its Chengdu production base, in which the original equipment manufacturer will invest $5 billion, the West China Metropolis Daily reported today, citing an agreement bewteen Foxconn and the local government.

Foxconn has started to hire 1,000 people in Chengdu, at a minimum monthly salary of 1,590 yuan ($234.55), the Chengdu-based newspaper said.
