It's generally anticipated that this year Jobs will provide more information of iPhone OS 4, the new mobile operating system unveiled in April, and perhaps reveal some details on the next-generation iPhone 4G.

It is typical for Apple to introduce its new products at the event, analysts noted. Since the iPhone's debut in June 2007, new version has been released every summer. Sales of the iPhone 3G, which added support for third-generation wireless networks, began in July 2008, followed by an upgraded version in June 2009.

The WWDC will kick off on June 7 in Francisco. As many as 5,000 developers are expected to attend the event. This year's sessions include Application Frameworks, Internet & Web, Graphics & Media, Developer Tools, and Core OS.

Last year Jobs failed to give an address at WWDC due to his health conditions.
